A Fond Farewell!

Our lovely Beth is leaving us after 17 years as our housekeeper.  We are sadly saying goodbye to Beth who is moving on to work in Braemar – our loss is the Co-op’s gain.  Over the years many of our guests  have complimented us on the cleanliness and freshness of the cottages and this is mainly down to Beth’s dedication, attention to detail and pride in her work. Her sunny smile, sense of humour and kindness will be missed, but we will always have fond memories of her, and Crathie Opportunity Holidays is the richer for her time spent here.  We had an afternoon tea party attended by trustees, staff and volunteers, all happy to come out on a miserable snowy February afternoon to wish Beth well, and as a small token of our appreciation she was given a picture of The Manse Courtyard and a contribution towards her upcoming holiday in the Philippines.   It is just a fond farewell and not goodbye as  we hope to welcome her back for some of our fundraising events and maybe even some of our coffee mornings during the summer!

A Busy Winter…..

We have been very busy over the “quiet” season with refurbishment of our kitchens and refreshing of the paintwork, and especially the woodwork.  Although I often get asked what do you do when it’s so quiet, there is plenty to keep me out of mischief!  We start in November by assessing each cottage and making lists of anything looking tired, or needing fixed or updated.   We keep an eye out in the sales for fresh bed linen, towels and so on, and get in touch with local contractors to arrange and co-ordinate all the work needing done.  Then we keep our fingers crossed for good weather so that the vans can get down the lane!   Luckily Richard managed most days and the kitchens will be completed very soon.  All of them have been beautifully updated while still making sure they are fully accessible.  Unfortunately despite our best efforts we couldn’t figure out where to put a dishwasher without losing precious space elsewhere, so I’m really sorry but there’s still no excuse for anyone not taking their turn at the dishes!

A fresh new look for Spring….

A sneak preview…  We love the soft colours and delicate print of this new bed linen in Clunie double bedroom and think it really freshens up the room.  The new towels are in such vibrant colours – the pics don’t really do them justice.  If you’re wondering why they don’t match each other it’s because we always have a different colour  for each guest staying to help make sure  there’s no mix-up between users, particularly if there’s a need for infection control.  As always we try to avoid the “clinical” look or feel to our cottages but recognise that it’s important to make sure our guests are safe and comfortable.
