We had a lovely celebration at our coffee morning on Wednesday when Gregor Smith received his Saltire Award for 50 hours of Volunteering with Crathie Opportunity Holidays. Aimi Blueman from Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action came along to present his certificate. Gregor was joined by his family and friends, along with some of our guests and our volunteer gardening group. Aimi was very inspired after hearing all that Gregor’s been doing; he hosted a takeaway coffee morning last year and has been very busy collecting used ink cartridges and old mobile phone to be recycled and to raise funds. So far he’s raised nearly £500 including donations. We’ve used some of the money to install an Alexa smart speaker in each cottage, and thankfully Gregor was able to set them all up for us!
Gregor is still collecting used inketjet cartridges and any type of old mobile phones – please get in touch if you have any to donate, or bring them with you when you visit.
Summer’s Looking Good!
It’s been a glorious start to the season – warm, sunny days always makes everything seem cheerful! The birds are singing and the bees are buzzing! Even the bunny’s are enjoying the morning sun. I just spotted this wee fellow popping his head up from his burrow.
As it’s been so warm and with very little rain recently, we are encouraging all of our guests to empty their washing up bowls in the planters to save water.
